BALTIC 42 DARLING D

Darling Dee was one of the better performing members of the Belgian Admiral’s Cup team of 1979 which finished 14th out of the 19 teams. She completed the extremely rough Fastnet Race in 1979 in which 15 people died.

She was designed to the then popular IOR rule which encouraged narrow sterns. With spinnakers and the notorious ‘blooper’ set (see picture), these narrow-ended yachts provided crews with wild downwind rides in high winds, but they were very effective upwind yachts.

Darling Dee was raced extensively in European waters.
