Refit of Baltic 175 Ravenger wins a World Superyacht Award
3 May 2025
Baltic Yachts has won a major yacht industry award for one of the most extensive refit projects it has undertaken to date. At the World Superyacht Awards in Venice on 2 May, the 54-metre Baltic 175 Ravenger – delivered in 2017 and still the world’s largest full carbon sloop – won the refit award for yachts under 500GT.
In a nine-month project completed last year, Ravenger was comprehensively upgraded, fully restyled and transformed from a pure cruising yacht to an optimised racer-cruiser with go-anywhere ocean voyaging ability. She is now lighter, faster and more performance orientated, tailored to precisely fit her new owner’s sense of style and his style of sailing.

Major gains in boatspeed and racing functionality have been achieved, boosting Ravenger’s already impressive sailing performance. Wide-ranging modifications have been made to her rig, sailplan and sailing systems. Significant changes were also made to many aspects of her exterior, including structural work to support performance enhancements and subtle but extensive styling refinements by Jarkko Jämsén.
At the same time, Ravenger’s interior was partially reconfigured and completely restyled, with Baltic Yachts and Design Unlimited working in close collaboration. The result is a world class showcase of fine craftsmanship combined with ultra-lightweight composite structural expertise. A major upgrade of sound insulation solutions was implemented. The opportunity was also taken for all technical systems on board to be comprehensively serviced.

The refit was delivered on time, working to a remarkably tight schedule for a project of this scope and scale. The works were planned, engineered and executed almost entirely in house at Baltic Yachts’ HQ in Jakobstad, Finland, with a holistic approach and skilled project coordination.
We were delighted to be given the opportunity to deliver this transformational refit project,’ says Baltic Yachts’ EVP Henry Hawkins. ‘An important part of Baltic Yachts’ core ethos is that we’re not producing boats with a “best before” date or an “end of life phase” in mind. We’re building a forever fleet. With proper maintenance and the occasional upgrade there is no reason our yachts cannot go on sailing for ever.’
Baltic Yachts is the world’s leading builder of carbon composite sailing superyachts, with an outstanding track record of consistent success in yachting industry awards. Ravenger’s win at the World Superyacht Awards 2025 brings the total up to 39 major awards won in the last 13 years.
