Nilaya and Visione prepare to defend Baltic Yachts’ success in St. Barths
13 March 2018
Two of the most successful yachts ever built by Baltic Yachts, the Baltic 112 Nilaya (launched 2010) and the Baltic 147 Visione (launched 2002), both designed by Reichel Pugh, are aiming for podium positions as they prepare for the iconic St Barths Bucket, due to start on 15 March.
Nilaya, which posted a 2nd in class in the 2016 Bucket, has recently emerged from a programme of upgrade at Baltic Yachts’ rapidly expanding Service and Refit centre in Palma de Mallorca.
Baltic sales team member Matthew Lester, who will be racing aboard Nilaya, said: “A programme of improvement including a new main engine, a full service on the yacht’s lifting keel, a complete overhaul of the Hall Spars rig and other technical upgrades means she is in tip top condition as she heads for the Bucket.”
She will race in the same class as Baltic 147 Visione which returns to St Barths with the intention of improving on her 2nd in class last year, when she was beaten by Baltic 108 WinWin, and matching her 1st in class achieved in 2015, thirteen years after her launch!
To date, 26 of the world’s finest sailing yachts have entered this year’s Bucket, which is based in Gustavia, the main harbour in St Barths. Despite the widespread damage caused by hurricanes Irma and Maria last September, the island is fully functioning and looking forward to once again hosting the world’s leading superyacht regatta.
The Baltic Family wish Nilaya and Visione the very best of luck and great sailing!
