“Without the capacity to look at things from all angles we would not be what we are today”
For Patrik Järn, work is all about the people. “Selecting the right people for each team makes the project a success,” he says. As Head of Production it is his responsibility to guarantee the smooth running of the entire project, from initial design to the first sail. He eliminates delays and makes the transition from one process to another seamless. He ensures tight schedules are met and that the client gets what he or she has ordered within a given timeframe.
For Järn the greatest reward is not the boat itself, but to witness the enjoyment his teams get out of what they do, making the most of their skillset. Järn himself has a wide understanding of boat construction after 15 years in the industry. He has worked as a boat builder as well as a woodwork teacher for young professionals. He still teaches and keeps an open relationship with all the schools in the industry, many of them located in Jakobstad where Baltic Yachts is based. He is keen to recruit those interested in a unique career and a specialist industry and provide them with the skills to become top quality professionals. “We educate our workforce to high standards and encourage broad thinking,” says Jarn. “Without the capacity to look at things from all angles we would not be what we are today. That is part of what makes Baltic unique.”
