Baltic 175 Pink Gin nominated for five top design and innovation awards

24 November 2017

Pink Gin, the stunning Baltic 175 sloop launched this year, has been nominated in five categories in the world’s leading design competition, the Boat International Design and Innovation Awards, the winners of which will be announced at a gala dinner in Kitzbuhel, Austria on 28 January 2018.

For Best Lifestyle Feature, uniquely she is the only sailing yacht nominated in a category dominated by motor yachts. Her cockpit design, styled by Design Unlimited and featuring a pewter topped bar and two spectacular chandeliers suspended from her boom, has been highlighted in a category new to the re-vamped awards.

Baltic 175 Pink Gin is one of four yachts to be nominated for Best Naval Architecture in which the Baltic 175’s two opening hull-side balconies are key features. These complex structures, which literally add a new dimension to the yacht’s accommodation, presented unique engineering and design challenges for naval architects judel/vrolijk & co, composite engineers Gurit UK and Baltic Yachts whose expertise in carbon composite construction figured throughout.

Baltic 175 Pink Gin is also nominated for the Best Interior, Best General Arrangement and Deck Design, in which she is one of only two sailing yachts selected, and Best Exterior Styling. Design Unlimited is responsible for Pink Gin’s remarkable accommodation styling and design and worked with judel/vrolijk and Baltic Yachts on exterior styling and her three-section cockpit.
