Baltic 78
For some time now,
another exciting 78 FT project has been under planning. In the past
Baltic Yachts has produced a couple of similar size yachts and has
presently a third under construction resulting in a vast volume
of experience being collected from this size of projects. It would
be natural to assume that this project would be based on some of
the previously built designs but this is not the case. Naturally,
the experience gained is very useful for this project but the design
itself is brand new developed in cooperation between Judel/Vrolijk,
R&J Design and Baltic Yachts especially for this particular
client’s needs and wishes.
This high
performance racer cruiser project went through a design phase consisting
of detailed layout work done by our in-house design partner R&J
Design in cooperation with the client and their team. A number of
layout drawings and 3D presentations have been prepared and considered
in order to find final optimum solutions.
A detailed
specification and a comprehensive weight calculation have been produced
for the naval architecture and performance studies, giving Rolf
Vrolijk and his team a good base to do extensive and accurate VPP
studies on a number of design variations. All in all, the design
stage has resulted in a well thought out concept and detailed design
and performance work. Therefore this project is better prepared
than most other projects, and we are looking forward to starting
making reality out of all the planning work done.
For this type of a project, where performance
is of high priority but comfort cannot be compromised, building
a light boat without sacrificing its strength is one of the main
issues. It is essential that the theoretical weight figures are
in balance with the final ones. All this can only be achieved by
using very high-tech materials and methods, and by a very good and
detailed planning, calculation and preparation stage. This is one
of the key factors in producing a good result.
As always, there is still some fine-tuning missing in layout details
etc. that will be done during the manufacturing process, but all
the major decisions have been made and we are looking at a well-prepared
project.
Delivery will take
place summer 2009.
