Baltic 112 Reichel-Pugh Nauta
This 112
footer is a high performance sailing yacht with racing speed potentials
but with full cruising comfort. Cruising comfort means additional
weight, and additional weight means compromising performance. In
other words, these two “worlds” are in conflict with
each other, and in order to minimize or eliminate this conflict,
it is essential that the weight is kept to a minimum wherever possible.
The main
light weight items in this project are naturally a light weight
interior, a carbon prepreg hull, and deck laminates, to mention
a few. However, to build a light boat and still have good cruising
comfort means chasing weight wherever possible during the whole
design and production phase. Through the years we have produced
a large number of light, very high-tech, high performance cruiser-racers,
and have accumulated a vast amount of technical knowledge and experience
in this particular niche of yacht construction. In other words,
these are the type of challenges that we are good at and that we
like to face.
The end
result will be a sailing yacht with a superb finish and quality
and a 100% cruising atmosphere while maintaining the sailing characteristics
of a top racing yacht.
The concept and styling for this project
is done by Nauta Yachts, naval architecture by Reichel/Pugh, and
the owner’s project management handled by Marine Construction
Management (MCM). Baltic Yachts have done a number of projects with
Reichel/Pugh in the past but Nauta Design and MCM are new acquaintances
to us, and we are looking forward to cooperating with this team.
The preparation work, drawings, specifications, weight calculations
etc. performed by the owner and his team are immaculately carried
out down to the finest detail.
Delivery
summer 2010.
